In just two short weeks, you’ll have the chance to see some of the most creative Little Free Libraries in St. Louis. Fourteen designers from a range of disciplines are designing and building wee libraries that will be given to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department at the end of May. The SLMPD Juvenile Division will place the libraries throughout St. Louis to connect with kids and promote literacy throughout the city. Who’s designing these stunning little libraries?

There’s still time to register if you want to join the fun! The more libraries, the merrier. Either way, mark your calendars for the open house/annual Cinco de Mayo party on May 1, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. We’ll have food, drink and music by DJ Mahf. Our esteemed judges will select a winner at 7:00 PM, and you’ll get to vote for the “People’s Choice” award. We have a discerning lineup of judges to choose the best book building of the bunch: Rhonda Broussard, Founder of St. Louis Language Immersion Schools; Gina Sheridan, Librarian, Author + Little Free Library Steward; Lt. Janice Bockstruck of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department; Alex Ihnen, Founder of NextSTL; Det. Agatha Santangelo of the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department; and Cornelius Green, Principal of Carr Lane Visual and Performing Arts Middle School.

See you on May 1st!
