Master of Architecture, Kansas State University
Bachelor of Architecture, Kansas State University
I received my masters degree from Kansas State University and then proceeded to start building. I didn’t know it at the time, or even through the process, but it set me up to be a better designer and a far more competent player in the process of building. It is not simply lines on paper and budgets in spreadsheets, it is value and satisfaction all lumped into a chaotic process we attempt to control at the expense of our own sanity.
Favorite Space in St. Louis: Grand Basin in Forest Park. My wife and I spent countless evenings there, and now we bring our two daughters along with us as often as we can.
Last Concert Attended: Charles Bradley. He’s one of the best performers I’ve ever seen.
Favorite Sandwich: Hot Salami from Gioia’s.
Favorite Architect: Carlo Scarpa — his ability to insert new into old is such an inspiration in the context of our city.
Confession: I collect cookbooks and chef memoirs and cook obsessively from them. My three year old has eaten more off-the-wall stuff than she will ever know.
