Mercy Health Plans needed a new building to consolidate several offices in Springfield, Missouri. SPACE worked closely with the new building’s owner, Discovery Group, to create a building that both suited Mercy’s current needs while at the same time planning for future flexibility should the building ever be leased to other tenants.

The prominent design feature is the main corridor, which separates one side of the building from the other. Large skylights and second floor slab openings allow natural light to penetrate into the building. For Mercy, this corridor serves as a divider between quiet, private office spaces and communal spaces, like the break room and conference areas. The corridor also provides for excellent future tenant flexibility, as each side of the building can have separate entrances.
