As one of the anchors at the new Mercantile Exchange development downtown St. Louis, the newest incarnation of Pi Pizzeria captures the chain’s hip, local style and the understated elegance of the Mercantile Exchange. By pairing rustic, natural materials with the honest simplicity of steel and glass, SPACE’s designers created a sophisticated yet comfortable place to nosh on some of St. Louis’ best pizza. We won an AIA-St. Louis Award of Merit for the design. The jury noted:
The folding wood plane creates an interesting array of spaces. The project is well-detailed and furnished and its material tacility creates a beautiful tension with the aseptic smoothness of the commercial building shell.
