Jerry Schlicter is a big deal.
If it weren’t for him, Missouri probably wouldn’t even have the Historic Tax Credit [HTC], the credit we’ve been fighting to preserve over the last few weeks. Not only did he spearhead the passage of the Historic Tax Credit, but he also authored the Missouri Rebuilding Communities tax credits.
Jerry is founder of the law firm Schlichter, Bogard & Denton, and he has consistently been listed in “Best Lawyers in America.” The New York Times wrote about him. So did the Wall Street Journal, USA Today and Barron’s. And he led the creation of Arch Grants, an international competition to bring the world’s best and brightest entrepreneurs to St. Louis.
Like we said, Jerry’s a big deal.
Next week, he’s coming to SPACE to talk about his integral role in the creation of the Missouri Historic Tax Credit, and what we can do to help keep it the in-tact and viable resource for Missourians who want to renovate old buildings throughout the state. After he’s done, we’re going to, once again, call our legislators to discourage any attempt to cut the program’s funding. We visited many of them in-person this week, and while we were in Jefferson City, we learned just how important the phone calls are.
Old buildings and communities of all sizes need this tax credit. We can use your help, too. Come by on Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 3:30 to meet Jerry and listen to him speak. When he’s done, we’ll take to the phones again to make our case to Jefferson City. Please join us!
